Lucille Irene Stegemann - age: 97
(January 03, 1923 to July 30, 2020 )
Resident of Santa Rosa, California
On July 30, 2020 Lucille Stegemann joined her husband, John, in heaven. She was born in Sugar Creek, Iowa on Jan 3, 1923. She grew up in Lynnville, Iowa and as a teenager her family moved to a farm close to Des Moines. During the war she was a welder building parts for planes.
She met John at a USO dance and married him 6 weeks later, on March 23, 1946. Their son, Loyd, was born in Wyoming while John was working on a dam construction project. Their daughter, Jan, was born back in Des Moines, while living on a farm with John’s parents.
They later moved to Tuscon, Arizona, Southern California and finally to Northern California. John owned Stegemann Motors in Ukiah, and they settled down there for 40 years. They were both golfers, skin divers, RV club members, and Elk’s Club members. Lucy was active in the Garden Club and a hospital volunteer. They attended Redwood Valley Community Church. They enjoyed traveling the United States and the world. Their son, Loyd Stegemann, and grandson, John Stegemann, still live in Ukiah.
Jan and her husband Jerry Jacobson gave her two more grandchildren, Alisa Jacobson and Mike Jacobson, granddaughter-in-law, Christine, and two great-grandchildren, Sierra and Rosalyn. Lucy especially loved visits from her great granddaughters who now live in Saint Maries, Idaho.
She passed away from heart failure at Jerry and Jan’s home in Santa Rosa where she had lived for 8 years. At one time, 4 generations were living in the house there. Alisa also lives in Santa Rosa. Her last memory would be a visit from Alisa the evening before she would fall asleep.
There was a celebration of her life with SOMA Community Church from Santa Rosa on August 2, 2020.
