In Memoriam : Gloria Thompson

Gloria Thompson Gloria Jean Thompson - age: 78
(December 17, 1932 to August 18, 2011 )
Resident of Redwood Valley, California

Gloria Thompson, a lifelong resident of Calpella and Redwood Valley, passed away on August 18th with her family by her side. She was born on December 17, 1932, in Calpella to Pete and Lily Rovera. Gloria and her husband Oren Thompson were married on June 17, 1951, and recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. During their 60 years one of Gloria’s special joys was working with Oren and their children and grandchildren for 34 years in their family business, Valley Paving. She also got much pleasure helping people design and build their homes. In her spare time at the age of 70 she decided to put her years of entertaining to use and opened Thompson’s Party Rentals. She truly enjoyed helping people and working with her family.
Gloria was proudest of her family and friendships. She was the spirit of the Ukiah Sons of Italy for which she held a special place in her heart. She was also a member of Soroptimist International of Ukiah and a founding member for over 50 years of the Sew & Sews.
Gloria will be remembered for her love of and commitment to her family, her open door and welcoming heart, her passion for cooking and of course great parties. She was Mom, Gram and Nonni not only to her family but to all of their friends. She made time for everyone and was mentor to many. She was everyone’s “go to” person and will be deeply missed.
Gloria is survived by her husband Oren Thompson, children Kathy Ault and husband Joe, Mike Thompson and wife Pam, Jim Thompson and wife Lisa, grandchildren Scott Ault and wife Andrea, Tim Ault and wife Danielle, Amy Thompson and husband Josh, Sara Pierce and husband Brad, Andy Thompson, Amanda Purcell and husband Steve, Darin Thompson, Devin Thompson, great grandchildren Tyler and Dylan Ault, Lily and Adam Lewis, Tea and Dalila Ault and Trenten Purcell, numerous nieces and nephews, brothers and sister-in-law Buhl Hoover, Tom Thies and Richard and Charlene Thompson and good friends Joe and Valerie Fernandes.
