Charles “Charlie” Victor Ruelle

Charles Victor Ruelle passed away on March 12, 2016 from heart disease at the age of 82. Charles was born on May 26, 1933 in Willits, Ca. to Charles “Vic” and Ethel Ruelle. He was a 6th generation resident of Mendocino County. His grandmother, Ora Ruelle, was a member of the pioneer Whited family in Willits.
Charles served in the army, primarily stationed in North Korea. Upon returning home, he was associated with his father in “Ruelle Inc.” a Willits firm which operated logging and lumber trucks. In 1956, Charles and his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie”, relocated to Ukiah, Ca. After working at various jobs, he went into the laundromat business and then expanded into rental property. He spent the remainder of his life running the day to day activities of his various properties.
At one time, Charles served on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Home Society as well as the Ukiah Senior Center. He also maintained lifelong memberships to the Grace Hudson Museum as well as the Knights of Columbus.
During his adult life, he spent many hours collecting and restoring his numerous Model T Ford vehicles. He donated two of his vehicles, a 1927 Ford truck, and a 1927 Ford coupe to the Roots of Motive Power. These vehicles can be seen at the Willits Museum. In addition to the Model T’s, Charles also donated his entire Lionel train collection and erecter sets to the museum.
Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years, his three children, Wayne Ruelle, Alan Ruelle, and Diane (Scott) Wolmuth, his grandchildren, Andrew (Natalie) Ruelle, Emily Ruelle, Molly Wolmuth, Christopher Wolmuth and a great grandson, Chase Ruelle. He will be greatly missed by all.
The family of Charles would like to thank Holy Spirit Residential Care Home and the staff for the loving care he received these last few months.
A viewing will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 12:00-5:00 pm at Eversole Mortuary.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
