Obituary:
Jamal Rasaan Andrews, 30, of Redwood Valley, died Tuesday January 24th, when he was taken from the world in a senseless and violent act.
Jamal was born to David and Lucy Andrews on October 12, 1981, in Willits, CA. He grew up in the mountains of Laytonville, a happy and adventurous child. In school, he enjoyed sports such as soccer, basketball, and baseball. As an adult, his passion for life included many activities such as traveling, wakeboarding, snowboarding, cooking, watching sports, and other activities in which he could share in the company of others. Jamal had a love of music and performed in three different groups with lifelong friends. He found the love of his life, Miranda, and they made their home in Redwood Valley. Their son was born in 2011. A devoted father, Jamal was transformed by fatherhood.
Jamal is survived by his fiancée Miranda Mills, their son Kaiden Andrews, parents David and Lucy Andrews, brother Josh Andrews, sister-in-law Cristena Andrews, and nieces Jaden, Layla, and Aryah. He is also survived by many extended family members, numerous friends, and countless people whom he touched in his life.
Jamal was a kind, considerate, generous, loving, positive, free-spirited, and beautiful person. This loss is not only to his community, but also to the world. A light shone in Jamal that we now feel has been extinguished. We must remember that his light was so bright that each of us who was touched by him carries a trace of it within us.
The family would like to thank everyone for the love and generosity received in the outpouring of phone calls, emails, and visits. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Kaidens trust fund at Bank of America account# 01284-70514.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 11 at Harwood Hall in Laytonville. Potluck please.
In Jamals words, you never know what you got til what you gots gone. You aint physically here, but through us you live on.
