LEATHA JANE (BARNES) HARPE:
Leatha Harpe, aged 92, passed away quietly in her home on June 20, 2012. Leatha was born to Tillman and Katie Ingle in Oklahoma in 1920, coming to California as a young girl. She lived most of her life in the Hopland/Ukiah area of Mendocino County. She and her first husband, M.C.Barnes, raised their 3 children in Hopland and Ukiah. She married her second husband, Lawrence Harpe, in 1983.
She is predeceased by her two husbands, her daughter Darlene, her son Robert, a grandson, as well as all 6 of her siblings. She is survived by her son, Ronald Barnes (Anne); her loving niece, Kathy Friedland, who has cared for her for several years; and a niece, Phyllis Ingles, who also has cared for her recently. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, multiple great grandchildren, a great, great grandson, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Ernest Harpe, and several sisters-in-law. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held at Hopland Cemetery ¬¬¬Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Eversole Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
