Bill was born in Ukiah on November 3, 1947. He graduated from Ukiah High in 1965. Bill joined the United States Marine Corps in March of 1966 and served in Vietnam for 3 years. After returning to Ukiah, he worked in construction until he retired.
Bill loved the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers. He liked to tell the story of attending the World Series during the 1989 earthquake. Bill loved to play golf and spend time with his friends and family. He was a member of the Ukiah Lions Club.
Bill is survived by his wife Kim Deetz, daughter Kimi Hoover, sons and daughter-in-law, Jason and Heather Van Housen, and Brady Van Housen, grandchildren Shampaine Hoover, Halle Hoover, Paeton, Hailee, Tanner, and Parker Van Housen. Great-grandchildren Cameron, Shiloh, and Jasper.
A grateful thank you to Dalistan’s Care Home for their kind and compassionate care of Bill in the last two months of his life; Diane and Ashley from Ukiah Hospice for their loving support; the Veterans Association for the long and continued support of Bill; and to Brenden O’Connell for his unwavering care, kindness, and ability to accommodate to Bill’s changing needs. The help, empathy, and grace they gave to Bill and family will never be forgotten. Thank you to all who held Bill in your hearts.
