Obituary:
Wesley Boardman, age 81, passed away peacefully at home in Windsor, CA on November 3, 2013. Wes was preceded in death by his wife Eula in 2003. He is survived by Eula’s daughters Beverly and her husband Jack Roe of Rohnert Park and Denice and her husband Norman O’Neill of San Anselmo. Wes was a loving grandpa to Rod Ford, Kim Treanor, Steve Parmelee and wife Ali, James O’Neill and wife Courtney, and Julianne O’Neill and an adoring great grandpa to Oceana Spotleson, Ava Parmelee and Maizy O’Neill.
Born in Portland, OR on February 5, 1932 to Wesley and Frances Boardman, Wes moved to Seattle where he graduated from Queen Anne High School. Wes had fond memories of spending time, hunting and horseback riding, at the Boardman family ranch in Goldendale, WA. He graduated from Central Washington College in 1957. Wes then moved to the SF Bay area to begin a 30 year career with MetLife. He met and married Eula in 1965. He became a husband, dad and grandpa all in one year!
Wes has been an active member of Lions Clubs over the years, contributing his time and efforts to helping others. During his years with MetLife, Wes and Eula moved from California to Arizona to Oregon. He was passionate about expanding the Lions Youth Exchange program wherever they moved to. Growing up the grandkids always enjoyed meeting Youth Exchange students from other countries when they visited their grandparents during summer vacations.
After retiring, Wes and Eula moved to the Texas “hill country” for 10 years. They returned to the SF Bay area in 1999 to be closer to family and settled in Windsor, where Wes has been an active member in Lions on both a local and district level. Over the years he has touched the lives of so many people and will be sorely missed!
Family and Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Wes’ life on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Windsor Community Center, 901 Adele Drive, Windsor. Come and share your stories and fond memories of a truly remarkable man. If so desired, Donations in his memory may be made to “Lions Project for Canine Companions for Independence”, PO Box 3896, Santa Rosa 95402.
