Obituary:
Joan Hovey Borecky passed away peacefully on April 2, 2016 at the age of 92. Born in Sioux City, Iowa her family relocated to the Ukiah area at an early age. Joan attended River Union School, Yokayo Elementary School and Ukiah High School, graduating with the class of 1941. She worked as Registered Nurse for many years but loved teaching. After earning her Master’s Degree from Washington State University Joan began teaching at Mendocino State Hospital and Santa Rosa Junior College. She later became the Director of the Health Occupations Department at SRJC and was especially proud of her RN program there.
Joan is survived by a son George Borecky (Nancy), brother Bill Hovey (Dona), grandson Eric Borecky (Sandra), great granddaughters Mylee Borecky and Noelani Borecky and by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on April 13th at 11 am.
