Clara Lucille Branson
Private graveside services were held for Clara Lucille Branson of Redwood Valley on Monday, October 1, 2012 at Ukiah Cemetery. She was buried in the family plot. Pastor Kent Dethlefsen presided. Clara passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Redwood Cove Health Care in Ukiah, she was 92.
Born September 14, 1920 in Mt. Park, Oklahoma, Clara graduated from Ukiah High School, where she played tennis, with the class of 1938. She was a wife, mother and worked at Bank of America and Parducci wine tasting room at various times. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, member of Eastern Star, Apostles Evangelical Lutheran Church, Northern California Womens Golf Association. She loved to play bridge, fish and golf. She won many womens golf tournaments and had a hole-in-one. She was a gourmet cook and loved to try new recipes on family. She was an excellent seamstress. She was very proud of raising her three sons. Clara will be remembered as a loving and kind person, but not afraid to speak her mind. She was a very classy lady. She and her husband Harley traveled all over the world including China, Kenya, Spain, Portugal, England, Scotland, Ireland, the Bahamas, Caribbean and much of the U.S. They loved all different cultures, and they loved traveling in their RV. They loved music and dancing. Her favorite saying, If youre going to drink coffee, drink it black!
Clara is survived by her sons, Harley Kenneth Branson, David Eugene Branson, Richard Standley Branson, grandchildren Erik Branson, Jennifer Barney, David J. Branson, Stacy Branson, Denise Darnell and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 69 years, Harley Branson, parents Olin and Hettie Hazelwood Slocum and brother Harvey Slocum.
Memorial contributions to the Ukiah Senior Center are preferred.
