Obituary:
Marie Elma Brodie, a truly wonderful woman, left this world on the morning of Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021, when her late husband, Dennis, Santa, came and stole her away, just as he stole her heart 61 years ago. A timely end to a beautiful love story, the two never having to spend a Christmas apart.
Marie was born December 1, 1938, in Monte Rio, California, the eldest of four children, to Henry and Eleanor Bertozzi. She was raised on a dairy farm in Santa Rosa, where she developed her strong work ethic, caring for her siblings and completing chores before school. She attended Santa Rosa High School, where she met the love of her life, Dennis Brodie. They married on August 16, 1959. She attended Beauty College and worked as a hairdresser for many years.
In 1972, they moved to Ukiah, where they raised their family. Marie had faith, grit, and a generous heart. She was an active member of St. Marys of the Angels Catholic Church. She volunteered serving meals at Plowshares, was PTA president at Yokayo School, and drove patients to appointments for the American Cancer Society. If there was a need, she was there. A true caretaker to many.
Marie was fun-loving and had many lifelong friends. She was also strong willed. She mastered the look and you knew exactly what she was thinking!
Food was love. Marie loved holidays when she could cook everyones favorite foods. Everyone had a place at her table and in her home. Family was everything to her. She was Noni to her grandchildren, and a huge part of their lives;she adored them, and they adored her back.
Marie left a legacy of kindness and loving devotion to family. We all hope to be like her as we carry on the traditions she left behind.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Dana Franz (Ron);son, Mark Brodie(Chania);grandchildren, Tyler(Shelby),Connor, and Parker Franz, Alex and Brianna Brodie and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; brothers, Lee and Mickey Bertozzi and sister, Diane Manni.
Arrangements are under the care of Eversole Mortuary. Internment will be held this summer at Sebastopol Evergreen Lawn. The family will announce services to be held at a later date.
