Obituary:
Wilda Kathleen Kay Brown Meyers
Wilda Kay passed peacefully into Rest on Thursday, February 16, 2012 with her family by her side. Wilda Kay was born in Tennessee on January 27, 1920, the fifth child and adored first daughter of Pearl and John Brown. When Kay was very young, the family moved to Mount Comfort, Indiana until 1936 when they moved west to Modesto, California. Wilda Kay attended Hinsdale College in Illinois pursuing her nursing and physical therapy training, however her stay was cut short with the onset of World War II and she returned to California. On August 1, 1942 Kay and John Pershing Meyers were married in Modesto, CA. John and Kay enjoyed living in many California locations and making lifelong friends in the SDA congregations, including Alameda, Stockton, Modesto, Santa Rosa, Lodi and Chico. In 1983 they retired to Mendocino County to be near family and to share the fellowship of many Dear Friends in the Ukiah SDA Church. Wilda Kays life was fulfilled by the nurturing care she provided to her family, her close friends and her hundreds of patients - as well as her life-long witness to the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl Jane Brizendine Brown and John Anthony Brown; her brothers W.G., Maynard, LeRoy and Maurice Brown; loving husband of 56 years John Meyers, and her second husband, Oren Hewitt, daughters-in-law, Bonnie Rupracht Meyers and Linda Scheideman Meyers, and son-in-law, John W. Groth. Kay is survived by her sister Margie Clareen Lynch, daughter Linda K. (Meyers) Groth, son J. Ken Meyers and granddaughter Kathleen M. Groth along with numerous nieces and nephews in California, Nevada and Indiana as well as countless special friends. Services for Wilda Kay will be held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1390 Laurel Ave., Ukiah at 3:00 p.m. on February 25, 2012; arrangements are under the direction of Eversole Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Kay may be made to the Voice of Prophecy, the ADRA Foundation, or a charity of your choice. The family extends a special Thank You to the staff at Ukiah Health Care for the professional, gentle and loving care that Kay received.
