Dorothy Jane Bunsey
Dorothy Jane Bunsey, or Grandma Dot as she was known to her family, passed away January 1st of 2013. Born to her parents Frank Albert Gibson and Grace Mary Griffitts in Ukiah in 1923 she was the youngest of 5 children. She grew up on her fathers walnut and pear orchard in Potter Valley where she spent her childhood walking the mile and a half each way to the library, laden with books and a love for reading that lasted her entire life. At 18 she married her first husband Clyde Vernon Brooks and from that marriage had her two children Ronald Vernon Brooks and Karen Lee Rose. After her husbands unfortunate death in 1964 she remarried three years later to her second husband Leonard Charles Bunsey who passed away in 1993. Predeceased by both of her children she is survived by son in law Ed Rose, grandchildren Monica and Kenny Forkes, Michael and Tanya Meyer, Connie and Gilbert Gomez, and Vernon and Becky Brooks, great grandchildren Kyle and Samantha Martinez, Ronald and Kerinza Vera, Tara Martinez, Mikayla Forkes, Gregory Forkes, Breanna Brooks, AJ Meyer, Isaac Gomez, Dustin Brooks, and great great grandchildren Kadence and Achilles Martinez , Gary Heathcock, and Rashelle Jayne Vera. After 89 great years of life she will be remembered by all of her family and many friends for and abundance of things, some of which are her love of piano, of quilting, her surefire spunk, unwavering independence, and limitless love. A wake will be held Saturday, January 12th, 2013 in her honor at the Lake Mendocino Clubhouse beginning at 2pm for any who wish to come and remember the many memories that knowing Dorothy Jane Bunsey undoubtedly created.
