Clay J. Butler
On June 28, 2015 our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away. Born in Lamar, Iowa on January 25, 1934 to Warren and Lucille Butler, he was the third child of six, two brothers Randall and Bill, three sisters Fern, Bonnie and Helen. He graduated Ukiah High School with the class of 52. He served a stint in the Marines, discharged in 1954. Clay married Joan Pickner on April 23, 1955. They were married 60 years. They had 3 children, Cathy, Jolene and Jim, two grandsons Jeremy and Joseph and one great granddaughter Haylee. He retired from the Postal Service as Postmaster of Redwood Valley for 30 years. He then went on to work at Frank Zeek School for another 22 years. He loved the kindergarten classes. He loved the SF Giants and SF 49ers and was a fan till the end. He traveled the country with his wife, best friend Roy Martinelli (deceased) and his wife Diane.
Clay is survived by his wife Joan Butler, daughter Cathy Dryden, son Jim Butler, grandsons Jeremy Simms and Joseph Dryden all of Ukiah, great granddaughter Haylee Simms who kept him on his toes and put a twinkle in his eyes, sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and Bob Webb of Woodland, WA, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dennis and Barbara Pickner of Ukiah, brother-in-law Dan Pinto of Hercules, CA, numerous nieces and nephews. His daughter Jolene preceded him in death.
At his request no services are to be held.
