Paul Owyoung Chan
Funeral services for Paul Chan of Ukiah will be held on Friday, July 19th, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Eversole Mortuary. Interment will follow at Ukiah Cemetery. Paul passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013 with his family by his side.
Born March 18th, 1928 in Canton, China, to father Awyang Hue Yuk and mother Wong Choi. He moved to Ukiah in 1951, and worked as a clerk at the State Market in Ukiah. He was an entrepreneur owning many businesses including Pauls Rice Bowl, which he opened in 1967 becoming the foundation for his success. He will be remembered for Pauls Rice Bowl, Ukiah Tea Garden Restaurant, Samoa Club and the New State Hotel.
Paul is survived by his children; Melissa Fong and husband John, Dan Chan, Judy Chan and husband Ray, and John Chan and wife Jan; brother Ke Zhong Auyand; grandchildren Brian, Caleb, Katie, Amos, Jenna, and Dylan; and great grandchildren Tyler, Jaydon, Kyle and Abigail. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Hing Kwong Chan.
