Obituary:
Long time Redwood Valley grape rancher Argile Chapman passed away at his home on September 1st with his family by his side. Argile was born on September 13th, 1928 in Oklahoma. After serving with the 82nd Airborne in Fort Bragg North Carolina where he met his wife Clara, they moved to Redwood Valley in 1951. He is survived by his wife of 63 years and three children. Sons, Ken Chapman, Kelvin Chapman (Cindy) and daughter Karen Miller (Matt). Five grandsons, Tyler Gulyas, Jason Chapman (Meagan), Morgan Gulyas, Brett Chapman and Grant Miller and Great Granddaughter Mia Chapman. Brothers Garry and Bill Chapman of Ukiah, Charles Chapman of Bakersfield and sisters Ava Shalita of Morgan Hill and Brenda Esswien of Clovis. Argile was a truck driver for many years, but his passion was his vineyards in Redwood Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvil and Opal Chapman and sister Melba Rohde. No services will be held at his request. Family will host a celebration of his life at a later date.
