Charlotte Gail Silva Alvarado, of Hopland, passed away on Saturday, February 4th, 2023, at the age of 68. Charlotte was born on May 17th, 1954, and was raised in Ukiah and Hopland, CA.
On February 22, 1984, she married Jorge Alvarado Sr, of El Colesio Michoacan, Mexico, and raised four children together. Charlotte served the local tribal communities for many years working as a Community Health Representative. A beloved tribal elder of the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians, she faithfully served on the Indian Child Welfare Committee using her skills and experience to assist the most vulnerable in the community, the children. Her commitment and love for the tribal people will be missed. Charlotte’s message to all “Serve everyone with a good heart, love and forgive others.” She loved to bead, create artwork, collect dolphin figurines, and loved to karaoke. Charlotte had a passion for car racing. She grew up watching her father, John, compete at many racetracks, and spent numerous hours at the Ukiah Speedway supporting her nephew Darrin and brothers AJ and Bubba. She was their #1 fan! She loved going to concerts, listening to music, watching her favorite show programs, playing bingo and going to the casinos with her family and friends.
Mrs. Alvarado is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Jorge Alvarado Sr., children, Renee Jimenez, Felipe Soliz and Jessica Rojas, Olivia Alvarado and Juan Acosta, Jorge Alvarado Jr. and Kristina Castorena. Grandchildren: Jordan Stillday, Mariah Alvarado, Jorge Ruben Alvarado, Nathan Soliz, Delia Soliz, Julian Alvarado, Dalia Acosta and Manuel Acosta. Siblings, sister Sharol Gabbert, brother Anthony and Christy Silva. Nieces: Kimberley Vandevoorde and Katie Silva. Nephews: Ken Cornell, Tyler Silva, Darrin Silva, and William Silva. Also survived by numerous cousins, two aunts and one uncle, a great niece and great nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents of John Silva and Lucille Wright Silva, Michael “Bubba” Silva and nephew, Kyle Silva.
Services will be held at 3000 Shanel Rd, Hopland, CA, in the Tribal Gymnasium. A viewing will be held Friday, February 10th, 2023, at 4 pm until Sunday, February 12th, 2023. The memorial service will be on Monday, February 13th, 2023, at 10 am, followed by her burial at the Hopland Tribal Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to attend a potluck luncheon that will follow immediately after the burial services at the Hopland Tribal Community Hall.
