Betty Cornejo passed away on October 14, 2012. She was 93 years old. Born December 10, 1918 to John Wilmer Snyder and Louise Arline Slosson of Monrovia California. Betty was raised and attended school in Monrovia California before attending two years of junior college in Pasadena, California. In 1942 Betty gave birth to her first child Donald Miller, she later met her husband Joe Cornejo while waitressing at My Old Kentucky Home restaurant on Route 66, they married November 16, 1946 on Lucky Baldwin Ranch in Arcadia, California. Betty and Joe were married for 65 years, after they married, they lived in Mount Duarte for a few years, during that time they had a daughter, Cheryl Williams. When Cheryl was about a year old they moved to Big Bear. While living in Big Bear for six years, Betty was the sole person in charge of putting together a Rodeo. Betty and Joe later moved to Azusa where they began doing foster care for children. After some time Betty and Joe moved to the Redwood Valley area and bought a large piece of land overlooking Lake Mendocino and built their ranch, they lived on this ranch for thirty-six years, in which time they raised about thirty foster children along with some grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Betty as so well known and loved it the community and shared her love with all that she met. She had such a caring heart and even Volunteered during her younger years as a Candy Striper. She also did security for the coast guard in her younger years. Betty was well known to all who were close to her as having such a strong belief in Religion and practiced the Catholic Faith. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe, of 65 years and her brother Donald Snyder. She is survived by her brother in law Johnny Cornejo of Crescent City, her son Don Miller of Santa Barbara, daughter Cheryl Williams of Fallon, Nevada, her grandchildren Samuel Evans, Tami Zamarripa, Leesah Piver and her husband Jeff Piver, Kateri Cramer, Joseph Williams, Shelly Miller, Nicole Miller and Suzie Miller also numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her care takers Karla and Nicole. Betty was a true treasure to us all and will greatly be missed.
A visitation will be held at the Eversole Mortuary on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 1:00-5:00 PM
A graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later date in which the family will notify everyone at that time.
