Obituary:
Anthony Dominic Cuneo, 87, of Cloverdale passed away at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Monday, November 15, 2010 with his family at his side. Anthony was born December 6, 1922 in Petaluma, Ca.
Anthony was a lifelong resident of Sonoma County. He graduated from Cloverdale High School in 1941 then attended Santa Rosa Junior College where he played baseball until he enlisted in the Army in January of 1944. After being honorably discharged from the Army in February of 1946, he was self-employed his entire career which included owning lumber trucks, logging, operating a Bowling Alley and farming prunes and grapes. After retirement, he worked driving truck delivering farm equipment for Lampson Tractor until he finally retired at the age of nearly 80. Anthony and his wife Delores Coon were married on September 15, 1956 in Geyserville, Ca. Anthony was most proud of his children and his grandchildren.
Anthony was a veteran of World War II. He enlisted in the Army in January of 1944 as an automotive mechanic and served with the 5th Armored Division, 85th Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron as an armored car driver. He was in the battles and campaigns of Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe for 11 months. He was a member of the VFW Post #9268, 5th Armored Division Association and the Cannibal Club.
Anthony is survived by his wife Delores Cuneo of 54 years of Cloverdale, Ca. daughter Toni Hunt and her husband Marty of Calistoga, Ca. son Mark Cuneo and his wife Felicia of Playa Del Rey, Ca. brother Eugene Garibaldi of Cloverdale, Ca grandchildren Lauren and Megan Hunt, Sean and Rachel Cuneo.
