Joy and her husband lived and worked throughout the Midwest before finally settling in Anderson Valley in 1957, where they raised their four children. Joy packed apples for Shoenahl Ranch and worked at the Masonite Tree Nursery along with her best friend Wilma Brink.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Redwood Cove and Wynell Thomas at Hospice of Ukiah for their care and support.
