Ava passed away March 30, 2018. She was 85 years old. She was born in Central City, Nebraska to Mabel Louise Riley. In February 1933, she was adopted by her loving parents Carl & Vella Bivens of Purdum, Nebraska. In 1935 the Bivens family left the old homestead and moved West. The family settled in Washington State. In 1941 the family moved south to Oregon State. Ava finished high school in Medford Oregon. In 1956, Ava along with her two daughters moved to Ukiah CA. In 1957 Ava worked for the Department of Mental Hygiene at Talmage CA as a Psychiatric Technician for 17 years. The next 10 years she worked for a local physician. Ava was a hardworking woman raising her two daughters. In 1964 she married J Charles (Chuck) Davis. They had been married 53 years. Ava loved life and people, especially children. She had many hobbies. Her most special was collecting Crystal ware “Heisey.” She collected all over the U.S. while traveling. The loves of her life were her two daughters Sheryl & Jeannie and their families. They had a bond that just couldn’t be broken. She leaves daughters Sheryl L Parker and Jeannie Clark. Grandchildren Christopher Parker (wife Charlene), Jennifer Kelly (husband Jeff), Kevin McDonald (wife Cristina), Cameron Smith (husband Jerry). Great Grandchildren Brawley Parker, Dayton Parker, Fuller Parker, Chesney Kelly, Ethan Kelly, Tyler Kelly, Abigail Smith and Finnegan McDonald. Also surviving are Linda Clark step daughter, Holly Clark step granddaughter, half-brother Richard Barr of Omaha, Nebraska, nephews Sam Layne and Carl Bivens and their families, Good friend Larry Parker. Services and burial will be in Medford Oregon next to her mother and father. A celebration of life will be held at 340 W Mill St, Ukiah CA on Saturday April 14th at 1:00 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice of Ukiah at 620 S Dora St Ukiah CA.
