Marie Ann Denham
Graveside services for Marie Ann Denham of Ukiah will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Ukiah Cemetery. Father Tom Hamilton, of St Gabriel's in San Francisco, will celebrate mom's life with us.
Marie passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013.
Born January 24, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Marie lived in the Ukiah area for the past 65 years. She was very active in the community volunteering with the Mendocino County Sheriffs Office, Ukiah Hospice, CASA, Children's Home Society and she worked yard duty and was librarian for many years at St. Marys School. She loved to travel. She and her daughter have been to the the former Soviet Union, the Isle of Mann, Ireland, Portugal, Cuba, Hungary, Spain and France just to name a few. Marie was an avid gardener, voracious reader and crossword puzzle solver. She was known in the area as The little old lady who walked her dog at 5:30 in the morning every day. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Marie is survived by her daughter Susan Denham-Gatlin and husband Steve of Novato, grandchildren Gracie Marie and Adam Denham Gatlin, sister Gloria Leithold of San Carlos and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Clay Denham in 1990.
Memorial donations may be made to Easter Seals of the North Bay, St Mary's Foundation, and S.N.A.P. of Mendocino.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Ukiah Valley Medical Center for their loving care of Marie for the past two years.
