Ed passed peacefully at home with his family by his side at the age of 90.
Born in Santa Rosa, California. Ed moved to Ukiah with his family at the
age of 13. Following graduation from Ukiah High School, Ed attended baking
school where he studied Pastry Arts. He also served his country in the US
Navy during the Korean War from 1951-1955.
For 59 years he was married to the love of his life, Cozette (Cozy)
Johnson. Together they bought a home in Ukiah where they would raise their
four children and work at the family’s business, the Model Bakery. In 1969 he
bought the business from his parents. While he worked/owned the bakery he
was the master wedding cake maker and decorator of all cakes. Through
those years it was nothing for him to work a 12-16 hour day. He also kept
the bakery a family affair where his wife and children worked.
Ed and Cozy moved their family to Redwood Valley in 1972. After selling
the bakery, Ed began a 20 year career working for the Mendocino County
Sheriffs Office. During this time he also served as a Commander of the
Search & Rescue Unit. Following his time at the MCSO Ed worked as a
maintenance sub-contractor on Cow & Red Mountains until his retirement.
Ed was an exceptional man whose interests and achievements included being
a boy scout troop leader, co-founder of the Snorkel Snooper Dive Club, was
an airplane pilot, achieving a brown belt in Judo, being a hunting and
archery enthusiast, certified scuba diver at the age of 36 and actively
dove until the age of 80. He was a carpenter, plumber, gardener, inventor
and all-around fix-it man who loved his family and friends deeply.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents Mervin & May Enzler, sister Joyce
Hill and wife Cozette (Cozy) Enzler, in-laws C.M. and Eva (Billie)
Johnson, Jim and Doris Eagelston.
He is survived by his children: Eileen Enzler-Husted (Rachel & Frank
Lorch), Steve & Rochelle Enzler (Sima Enzler, Taylor Enzler & Lain
Enzler), Karen Adamski (Ashley Adamski & Christopher Adamski-Enzler),
Scott & Sandra Enzler (Dustin Enzler & Jennifer Grooms, Cody Dean &
