Obituary:
On Thursday, September 2, 2021, Joseph “Joe” Egerer Sr. passed away at the age of 85. Joe was a supportive and loving husband to his wife of 66 years, Patricia, a wonderful father to his son Joseph Jr., and the most amazing grandpa to his grandchildren, Heather, Faith, Joe, and Ginger. He will be remembered for his service to our country as a Navy Veteran, and his creativity and imagination as an elementary school teacher. Joe spent his days in retirement enjoying the mountain life, fishing with his grandchildren and enjoying the peace and quiet it had to offer. He loved creating beadwork that he would sell at local craft fairs and the VFW. He also loved making toy trucks and trains out of recycled materials which he would donate to holiday toy drives. Joe was many things to many people – an artist, a story teller, a comedian…he made the day better for anyone whom he encountered. If you were lucky enough to know him, you will be able to close your eyes and remember the joy he brought into the room with his larger-than-life personality and laughter. The family will not be holding any formal services, but request that those wishing to celebrate his life consider making a donation in his memory to the Local Marine Toys for Tots Campaign."
