Betty Verdugo was born on Christmas Day 1938 on the Old Guidiville Rancheria to her mother Grace Williams. Betty was spunky even as a kid she grew up on the Rancheria being raised by her Grandma Clara Williams and Grandfather William Williams Sr along side her mother Grace. She enjoyed roaming the hills of old Guidiville and being with her Grandma and Grandpa.
Later on in life Betty became a mother to 4 children. From there on she was a hard worker always had a job and provided for her kids. She even liked having fun racing cars in first ever ladies powder puff races here at Ukiah racetrack along with being a avid bingo player.l throughout her life. She was one of a kind always liked to have fun. She always liked to take care of people. She became a caregiver, working in convalescent homes, here in ukiah where she worked for many years. Later on she worked for many people in ukiah, redwood valley area as a IHSS worker. From there in the early 90s she helped establish the federal recognization of our tribe Guidiville Indian Rancheria where later on she would serve as council women for next 30yrs. She just recently retired this April of 2022.
Betty lived a great life many knew her as very stern and truthful lady but that’s what we all love about her she didn’t care what others thought of her she said what she wanted she was the boss. She loved her family very much. She was always there for them when anyone needed her. She had heart of gold. There will never be another like her no one can match her attitude her words and sayings she one of a kind with her dark sunglasses on every where she went that was her signature. Everyone knew watch out here comes Betty especially if she was mad she stood up for what she believed in always.
Betty is proceeded into death by her Grandmother Clara Williams, Grandfather William Williams SR, Mother Grace Williams Duncan, Step-father Ambrose Duncan, Brother Ambrose Duncan JR, Son John Paul Peters, Daughter Sandra “Babe” Peters.
She leaves behind her sister Dolly Case, Brothers Donald Duncan and Phillip Duncan her children Daughter Coleen Peters, Son Randy Peters, Daughter Melinda Frease. and Grandchildren Candice Peters, Jeremy Peters, Charley Peters, Dawn LittleMoon Longoria, Joseph LittleMoon, Sam Sierra, Mikayla Pedroza, Monica Pedroza, Trish Míreles, Jennifer Peters, Miles Peters, Angel Anguiano, Manny Verdugo. Also many nieces nephews and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and many cousins and friends❤️
Services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11 am at Eversole Mortuary
