Friedhelm Engeln
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held for Friedhelm Engeln on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 2 pm at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary will be on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 6 pm at the Eversole Mortuary. Interment will be in Ukiah Cemetery. Friedhelm passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at a local hospital surrounded by his family.
Born January 15, 1936 in Germany, Friedhelm was a retired chemist and wine grape grower. He was proud of his vineyard. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, Lions, Elks, Masons, Ukiah Valley Soccer, a volunteer for seniors and enjoyed sailing. He will be remembered for his passion for his vineyard and his support of youth athletics (soccer and basketball). His favorite quote was Was du huete kanst besorgen worte nicht bis morgen translation Whatever you can do today dont wait for tomorrow
Friedhelm is survived by his close caring companion Hilde Mueller, longtime partner Monica Labbert, sons Matthew Paul Engeln and Michael Engeln, sisters Elfride Soeller and Aenne Koepf of Germany, granddaughter Jessica Engeln. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Elfride and by his brothers Bernhard, Josef (Yup) and Wilhelm (Willy).
Memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or the Prostate Cancer Research Institute are preferred.
