Julia Faulkner Hull Eschenbach
August 16, 1929 – June 29, 2012

Julie was born to Henry and Mary Faulkner Hull in Indianapolis, Indiana where she grew up. After high school graduation, Julie enrolled in the Indiana University School of Nursing and spent one year in Bloomington and 3 years in Indianapolis. After receiving her R.N., she married Conrad C. Casler in 1951. She had two children with Conrad, Cathryn and Conrad Jr. She then worked at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis and Spahn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1960 she returned to Indianapolis, and resumed her studies toward a BSN in 1964. In 1966, she melded two families in her marriage to Dr. Richard C. Eschenbach of Speedway, IN. She fondly loved recalling this period where she was working on her BSN from Indiana University by taking 17 units, pregnant, and with four teenagers from a melded family at home. She graduated in May of 1968 with a BS in Nursing Education. A few months later she bore Allen.
A year later the family moved to Somers, NY where she was a founding member and officer of the Somers Newcomers Club. She started playing bridge regularly around this time with her partner Dick, and later became a Life Master. She also loved spending significant parts of her summers at the family cabin in Ontario, Canada. She was also active in Good Shepherd Episcopal Church where she was a vestry member and sang in the choir. In 1983 she moved with Dick and Allen to Ukiah, CA. She and Dick traveled to places like Switzerland, Japan, China, England, France, and a family favorite ‘foreign country,’ visiting Ted in Alaska. She also continued spending time with the bridge club and at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. She served as a member of the vestry and Treasurer for Holy Trinity and was active in the Eucharistic Ministry.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years Dick, two sons Dr. Conrad C. Casler, Jr. of Tulsa, OK, and Allen Eschenbach of Nipomo, Ca; and two stepchildren Dr. Ted Eschenbach of Anchorage, AK, and Sherry Knight of Greensboro, TN. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased a year ago by her daughter, Cathryn Hull Zampa and one grandchild.
Services will be at 2pm on Tuesday July 3rd at Holy Trinity Church in Ukiah, Ca.
