IN MEMORIAM: LORENA MAY FORD
Lorena May Ford completed her earthly journey Friday, April 13, 2012. Born to Victor and Lola Church September 25, 1918, in Ukiah, California, Lorena was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Winfred and Arthur Church and her sister Irma Wilson. Lorena married Robert H. Ford in 1937, and they raised three sons, Ronald (wife Jan), David (wife Ina), Melvin (wife Leslie) and one daughter, Catherine, all of whom reside in Redwood Valley. Lorena is also survived by her grandchildren Tracy, Russell, Kirk, Amy and Bonnie and great grandchildren Delaney, Rowan, Trenton, Cody and Kyndall.
Lorena was a life long member of the First Christian Church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, performing as a deaconess and participating as a board member right up to the final months of her 93 years. She loved music, playing in grammar and high school bands and singing in choral groups and for many years performing as a vocal soloist for local functions. She enjoyed working at local precincts during elections, and she volunteered many years with Plowshares. Lorena was also well known for her superb embroidery skills, winning prizes at local fairs and gifting many charities, friends and family members with her artwork. Her last embroidery piece was a large Nativity scene, completed just before Christmas.
The family is thankful for the loving and kind care given Lorena by Hospice of Ukiah, Phoenix Home Care and Hospice and Holy Spirit Residential Care Home. The individuals involved in each of these organizations deserve the prayers and praise of all of us for their considerable contributions, skills and compassion.
