Obituary:
Stephen Herschel Ford died Thursday May 2, 2013 in the presence of his father and brother at Ukiah Valley Medical Center after a fifteen month struggle with cancer.
Stephen was born in Ukiah on December 24, 1947 and graduated from Ukiah High School in 1966. Stephen received a bachelor degree in engineering from Northrop Institute of Technology in Inglewood, California. Aside from his time in school and youthful travels and employment in Alaska and Canada, Stephen’s home was Ukiah. From 1986 until his death, he was employed as an engineer by Mendocino County Department of Transportation. During this time he received his professional licenses as a Civil Engineer and Traffic Engineer. For several years Stephen has actively worked with young students in the MESA program at Mendocino College.
In 1988 Stephen married Nancy Primrose of Ukiah. She preceded him in death in 2011. They had no children. Stephen is survived by his father Herschel Ford, brother Leighton Ford, nephew Adam Ford and niece Elizabeth Ford.
For those who knew and loved him, Stephen will be remembered for his modesty, strength and dignity in life and during his last struggles.
