James R. Freese - age: 75
(November 27, 1938 to June 16, 2014 )
Resident of Ukiah, California

Obituary:
James R. Freese, 75, longtime resident of Ukiah passed away on Monday evening June 16, 2014 at Ukiah Valley Medical Center hospital with his wife Linda present.
James was a retired international airline captain. As a boy, he built model airplanes in a backyard workshop his father had made for him. He often rode his bike across the bay bridge to reach a small airfield where he spent hours examining details of the planes.
As a young man Jim was awarded two “Gold C Pin” diamonds for achieving outstanding flying in sailplanes. His family called Jim “Papa Airplane” because he was always giving the children little balsa wood sailplanes to toss up into the air and then repairing the sailplanes when they became broken. He encouraged the children to make model airplanes and was able to send some grandchildren up in airplane rides. Jim especially enjoyed taking his wife Linda to visit aviation museums in California during his retirement years.
James was a protestant, being baptized in his family’s Baptist Church when he was 9 years old.
James is survived by his wife Linda of Ukiah upon marriage, their 24th anniversary would be this summer. Daughters Karin of Modesto, Ca. Diane of Potter Valley, Ca. Mary Ellen of Tarzana, Ca. sons James of Fresno, Ca. John of Santee, Ca. sister Mary of Santa Rosa, Ca. brother Joseph of Missouri, 11 grandchildren Chayton, Chesney, Cooper and Chancelyn of Potter Valley, Ca.
