Cuma La June Frochen
Cuma was born Cuma La June McCutchan on Sept. 1, 1924, in Manitou, Oklahoma, and was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior in the early morning of Good Friday, April 22, 2011, after a stay at a local skilled nursing facility. She spent her childhood in Oklahoma in a large family with seven siblings, three of whom preceded her in death: Kenneth McCutchan, Helen Guss, and Don McCutchan. She is survived by her brother Buster McCutchan of Dumas, Texas, her sister Betty Ledford of Springdale, Arkansas, her sister Leona Smith of Manteca, California, and her brother Bob McCutchan of Shelley, Idaho. Her family moved to Richmond, California, in 1942 where Cuma found work in the shipyards during World War II. Her only son John was born in 1943. She met Eugene Frochen in the area in 1947, they married, and eventually moved to Willits in 1956. They finally settled in Ukiah in 1959, where Cuma worked for over 20 years as a surgical and bedside nurse at Mendocino County Hospital and Ukiah General Hospital. Eugene passed away in 1968. Cuma retired in 1980, and was an active member of the Mendocino Co. Retired Employees Assn. She loved gardening, handwork, and was well known as an excellent cook. Her two greatest loves were her family and her Lord. She enjoyed family reunions and spending time with her son and daughter-in-law, John and Susan Frochen of Ukiah, and her three grandchildren: Sharon Frochen of Los Angeles, Allison Miller of Santa Rosa, and Stephen Frochen of Pomona, California. She is also survived by her great grandson Henry Ryan Miller. She loved to study the Bible, pray, and go to church. She was a faithful member for many years of Calvary Way and the Ukiah Assembly of God. There will be a graveside service at the Ukiah Cemetery this Friday, April 29 at 2 P.M., officiated by Pastor Dave Cetani of the Assembly of God. Viewing at Eversole Mortuary will be Friday from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M.
