Obituary:
A Celebration of Life will be held in Memory of Baldo (Bart) Eugene Garbocci of Ukiah on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Eversole Mortuary.
Bart passed away on March 24, 2013. Bart was born on August 18, 1939 in Ukiah to Rafaelo and Elsie Garbocci. He is survived in life by his loving wife, Marianne, their son Eric and wife Liz, grandchildren Robert, Ashlin, Ryan, and Jennifer, brother-in-law Mark Haines and wife Shirley, brother-in-law Steve Siemer and wife Jackie, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many very close family friends. He was predeceased by his parents and Brother Albert. A lifetime resident of Ukiah, Bart was raised on his parent’s ranch and grew up working in the vineyard. Farming was hard work, but in his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting, as well as horseback riding and traveling the rodeo circuit with his Uncle Louie. When Bart became of age, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country for four years. Bart had a passion for cars which led him to learn the car trade business. He worked for Ukiah Motor Sales, Chuck Hillary Volkswagen and Kar Korral Auto Sales, later purchasing the business and changing the name to Bart’s Motor City. He and Marianne owned and operated the car lot on North State Street in Ukiah for 25 years. Bart was a former member of the Ukiah Elk’s Lodge and member of the Ukiah Cannibal Club. Bart liked classic cars and going to the car shows, eating a big steak, playing cards and his special trips to Reno, watching sports, his many pets over the years and newest addition, his dog Rocky, dancing with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren. In 1999, Bart retired and shortly thereafter he and Marianne moved back to the family homestead where he grew up, and once again found himself working the vineyard with his son.
Bart was a sentimental, quiet and kind man and when he had something to say, everyone listened. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, big heart and unwavering devotion to his family.
