Barbara Elizabeth Glavich
Barbara Elizabeth Glavich entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 1 2014 with her loving family by her side.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life Gene Glavich in 1971.
Barbara was one of four daughters born to long time Ukiah residents Clyde and Nina Lee Williams. She was born and raised in Tempe Arizona with her three sisters Francis, Adelle, and Nina.
The family later moved to Ukiah California where Clyde took an engineer position for Masonite Corporation in Ukiah.
After College Barbara accepted a secretarial position at CDF Mendocino Ranger Unit Headquarters at Howard Forest.
There Barbara met the love of her life, Gene Glavich, who was an Assistant Ranger at the Ukiah CDF station and a CDF Air Patrol pilot.
They married in December 1953 and began building their own home in Ukiah which had been their long-time dream.
After completing their home they had two children, Greg and Chris.
Soon after their second son Chris was born Gene fell ill to colon cancer and passed in 1971 after a brave and silent battle.
Barbara took wonderful care of Gene during his illness along with the great help of their best friends, Ed and Lorraine Poe.
Ray and Lavada Glavich, Genes brother were very helpful during Genes illness and brought his parents down from Eureka to visit him and Barbara on several occasions. Lavada was just like a sister to Barbara since the first day they met.
After Genes death Barbara returned to CDF working at the Howard Forest station until she retired in 2007 as Executive Secretary.
CDF was like Barbara's second family, she's was well liked by everyone she worked with and for, and she was always kind and helpful to anyone who crossed her path.
Whether it was assisting the public, or anyone in CDF, Barbara always had kind words to say and help to provide, no matter what.
Her special loves where her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter, and extended family. She loved teaching Sunday school and had a great love for Christianity and Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.
Her hobbies included hiking and camping at Lassen National Park, baking, gardening, and serving wonderful holiday dinners that were second to none.
In the later years she enjoyed walking her dog Katy and attending Giants games with her family. She always loved baseball and made sure Greg and Chris both played little league, and both were pitchers.
Barbara was an active member of P.E.O. sisterhood Chapter NV, womens bible study, and CDF Retirees.
