Obituary:
Ted was born January 30th 1937 in Covelo California to Jesse Ted Goforth and Ellen (Brown) Goforth. He grew up in Covelo. When Ted was young his family moved briefly to both Shasta Lake City & Berkeley, Ca., then back to Covelo.
He graduated from Round Valley Union High School and later went on to Santa Rosa Junior College.
He applied to work for the City of Ukiah in in October 1956. Little did he know that would be his home for the next 30+ years while he worked his way up the ladder from a surveyor to Deputy Director, then Director of Public Works for the City of Ukiah. He retired in 1993.
Ted met & married Charlene (Shields) in Covelo, CA. Together they had 5 children Rick, Judy, Jill, Suzy & Will. They raised their family in Ukiah and Redwood Valley.
After retirement he spent most of his time in his Vineyard which the family had planted and worked since the late 70's. He grew several varieties over the years. He loved spending time in his vineyards.
Ted was an avid fisherman & hunter. He spent many hunting seasons at his Ranch property in Lake Mountain, CA. and in Nevada. Ted found so much enjoyment in his time spent in Nevada through the years with friends.
Ted & Charlene moved to Red Bluff in 2018, then Redding in 2019.
Ted is survived by his Children: Judy Lewis, Jill & Kurt Nixon, Suzy & Roberto Mendoza, Will & Keri Goforth and daughter-in-law Lenae Goforth.
Grandchildren: Johanna, Alicia, Tyler, Kalvin, Kaisha, Brandy, Jesse, Kyle, Marissa & Melia.
Great Grandchildren: Kayelynn & Kyzic
He is preceded in death by his parents Ted & Ellen Goforth, brother Don Goforth, son Rick Goforth & his wife Charlene Goforth, who passed away in March.
At his request, Ted was laid to rest in a private graveside service at Ukiah Cemetery.
