Obituary:
Vernon David Grant passed away peacefully at Stanford Hospital surrounded by his loving family on August 9, 2011. Born February 24, 1953 in Ukiah. Vernon was a lifelong resident of Ukiah. The family would like to thank the staff at Ukiah Valley Medical Center and Stanford Hospital for the care that they have given.
Vernon enjoyed road trips. The latest planned trip was a train ride through the Glacier, Grand Tetons & Yellowstone National Parks. He was a musician, enjoyed playing the guitar & especially the drums. He performed in various bands in the North Bay. He attended Ukiah High, had many jobs such as a cook in local restaurants, welder & truck driver.
In 1972 he married Charlene Hoaglen, with whom he had three children. He is survived by his nephews, Clinton & Adelaida (Loi) Grant of Alameda, Acie & Ana Grant of South San Francisco, Kevin Grant of Ukiah; niece, Sheila Grant of Sacramento.
His mother, Zelma Grant, brother Andrew Grant and most recently his sister Freda Grant preceded him in death.
A recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, August 25th at 6 PM at Eversole Mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Angels Church on Friday, August 26th at 10 AM. Burial will be at Ukiah Cemetery.
Eversole Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
