Obituary:
Albert M. Hardie, 90, of Ukiah passed away on March 9, 2013. Al was born June 24, 1922 in Berkeley; Ca. Al had lived in Ukiah since 1953.
Al graduated from Berkeley High School, and U.C. Berkeley. He was a past president of Ukiah Rotary in 1969, member of the Masonic Lodge, Ukiah Mens Golf Club and the Ukiah Elks Lodge.
Al was in the U.S. Air Force serving in WWII and the Korean War, he was a LT Bombardier with various medals.
His family will remember him as a loving husband with honesty and integrity. Al was married to Irene Evarts from 1944 until her passing in 1996 and to LaVerna Holzhauser Luiz from 1996 until her passing in 2006.
Al favorite quotes were He who cuts his own firewood warms himself twice. Dont put off until tomorrow what you can do today. You get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. Dont carry a grudge, it only hurts you.
Al is survived by his daughter Janie Leonard and her husband Gary of Ukiah, son Bob Hardie and his wife Suzie of Ukiah, son in law Dick Arneson of Redding, sister Dorothy Bray of Ukiah, grandchildren Brian Arneson of Ukiah, Lisa Minniefield of Albany, Ca. Eddie Bollig and his wife Terri of Ukiah, Kevin Leonard of Ukiah, and two great grandchildren. Al was preceded in death by his first wife Irene Hardie, second wife LaVerna Holzhauer Luiz and his daughter Ann Hardie Arneson.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Eversole Mortuary.
The family prefers memorial donations in Als name to the Phoenix Hospice in Willits, Ca.
