Virginia E. Henry

On Saturday, September 7, 2013 our beloved Mother Virginia E. Henry passed away peacefully at Holy Spirit Residential Care Home. She was born March 1, 1920 in Orland, CA. She was the daughter of William and Ethel Flook. She was the last surviving sibling. She had a brother, William Flook, sisters Wilma Snow, Reggie Malm, and Ileen Eskridge. She graduated from Orland High School in June 1938. She met the love of her life Vic Henry of Willows, CA and they married in Carson City, NV., April 1938.
She was predeceased by her husband Vic Henry in 2006. Also predeceased was a son Victor Dewayne Henry in 1951. Leaving behind are their daughters, Bonnie Carpenter and Charlene Johnston of Ukiah. Grandchildren, Rhonda Greene, Kelly Hunt, Laurie Pinches, and Doug Hoenig. Great grandchildren Jacob Dusky, Sarah Dusky, Matthew Hunt, Justine and Kristin Wilder, Justin and Marty Pinches, Madison Hoenig and Christopher McQueary.
Also leaving six Great-Great Grandchildren. Plus three nieces and three nephews. Vic and Virginia moved to Santa Rosa around 1946. She worked for Rosenburgs and The White House Department Stores in Santa Rosa. Boating was a favorite summer sport. They would travel to Lakeport or Soda Bay and spend the summers. The entire family loved skiing. When Vic was working she would tow her daughters around the lake. They moved to Ukiah in 1957. Virginia worked at Montgomery Wards in Ukiah for a couple of years. Later on she was a bookkeeper for their business Mendocino Paving in Willits.
After retirement they purchased a motorhome and fishing boat and spent most summers in Ft. Bragg at the Dolphin Isle. When winter arrived they would pack up around Christmas time and head for Cabo and on to Lake Havasu, AZ and return in early March. They did a lot of traveling and enjoyed their retirement.
Virginia had several hobbies. She enjoyed ceramics and at one time had a business in Santa Rosa called Henry’s Mud Hutt where she poured and supplied greenware for ceramic shops. She also enjoyed oil painting and the family has several of her beautiful works. Later on her most loved hobby was her gardening. She spent many hours creating a beautiful front and back yard and took great pride in the way it looked. Always many colorful flowers. She seemed to be at peace when she was gardening.
The family is very thankful to Holy Spirit Residential Care Home for the love and care they and their staff provided to our Mother. She will always forever remain in the hearts and memories of her family.
At her request, no services will be held. The family requests that donations in her name be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
Eversole Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
