Obituary:
Leandro Leo Herrera, 83, of Redwood Valley passed away at his home Saturday, August 29, 2009 with his family present. Leo was born July 26, 1926 in Monticello, New Mexico. He had lived in Redwood Valley for the past 45 years.
Leo retired in 1990. During his working years he was a vineyard manager and worked in the maintenance department of Mendocino College. He was a member of the Lions Clubs Int. and the Sea Lions Club.
Leo served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He received the Presidential Unit Citation and Victory Medal. He earned 5 stars for the Asiatic-Pacific area and 2 stars for the Philippine Liberation. Leo was assigned to the Air Transport Squadron Team and the USS Enterprise.
Leos family will remember his creative mind.
Leo is survived by his daughter M. Vikki Robinson of Point Arena, Ca. sons Steven Herrera of Ukiah and Bill Herrera of Willits, Ca. sister Phyllis Ostraco of San Bruno, Ca. grandchildren Marcy Baker of Dublin, Ca. Donny Davis of Brookings, Or. David Davis of La Jolla, Ca. Brandi Page of Ukiah, Ca. Juanita Clarke of Redwood Valley, Ca. and Charlie Herrera of Clearlake, Ca. Leo was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Bonnie Herrera
A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
