Obituary:
Geniave Elizabeth Higgins passed away at her home on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 with her family by her side. Born July 25, 1922 in Gunnison, Colorado, she graduated from Heald Business College and has resided in the area for the past 57 years. She owned and operated a nursery and florist shop with her husband Archie and son Dale for over 50 years. She arranged wedding flowers for over 1000 weddings throughout the Ukiah Valley. She delivered flowers to actress Ann Margret when she was in Ukiah shooting a film. Her favorite quote, “Flowers as near as your phone.”
Her family will remember her for her dedication to her family and the community.
Jenny is survived by her son Dale Higgins of Ukiah, sisters Marbell Bastion of Sacramento, Helen “Betty” Torpey of Beaverton, OR, grandchildren Ronny Higgins of Ukiah, Rhonda Klein of McKinleyville, Michelle McInerney of Grover Beach, Michael Higgins of Ukiah, Tammy Higgins of Chico, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Archie and by her son Earl Allen. Archie and Jenny met and were married in Sacramento. She will be inurned next to Archie in East Lawn Sierra Hills Memorial Park in Sacramento. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels. Eversole Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
