Obituary:
Chester A. Hill passed quietly away at his Sun City, AZ home on October 17, 2015. He was 95 years old.
Chet was born in 1920. In 1950 he married Ruth Marie Schamber.
Chet served in WWII in the 145th Field Artillery for 4 years in the South Pacific. After the war, Chet became a
General and C-8 contractor, worked for the State of CA at Talmage and later, Pacific State Hospital in Pomona for a
total of 30 years. He retired as Chief of Plant Operations III in 1975. Chets favorite sports were hunting, fishing and golf.
Chet enjoyed remodeling homes and traveling in the USA and several foreign countries that spoke English!
Chet is preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Chester Hill, his sister Francie Biebelle of New Mexico, and
his sister-in-law, Lois Jean Schamber Singley. He is survived by his wife, Ruthe; sons, Tom Hill of LaQuinta, CA,
Jim Hill of Bakersfield, CA; grandchildren, Jeniffer Sobbizadeh, Ukiah, Patience Hollingsworth, Santa Rosa, CA, Kindra Hill,
Lidiya Burgett, and Hunter Hill all of Bakersfield, CA; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins;
brother-in-law, George Singley; nephew, Stan L. Singley and his family. Chet will be remembered for many
things (including his sparkling blue eyes, charming smile and sense of humor), but MOSTLY for his love of Ruthe
for 65 happy years of marriage. Chet's ashes are at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
