Obituary:
June C. Hood, 75, of Ukiah passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Ukiah Valley Medical Center with her family at her side. June was born February 26, 1935 in San Angelo, TX.
June attended grade school in Baldwin Park, CA. and graduated from Covina High School. June spent most of her life in Southern CA. She moved to Ukiah 17 years ago to be with her son and family. In her earlier years she enjoyed dancing and horseback riding and as a mother she was a Cub Scouts den mother and a member of the PTA.
June was proud of raising three children as a single mother and helping raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family will always remember her as a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She made friends with everyone she met; she loved to talk about all of her grandchildren. June also loved cats and dogs especially her sons Chihuahua Pepe.
June is survived by her daughter Robin L. Hood of Meadview, AZ, sons George Perrone and his wife Cindy of Ukiah, John Hood Jr. and his wife Sandy of Garden Grove, CA. grandchildren Candice Perrone and fiancé Dustin Smith of Ukiah, CA. Michelle Perrone and husband Juan of Battle Ground, WA. Laura Tharpe and husband Andres of Dolan Springs, AZ. George Tharpe of Meadview, AZ. Rose Hughes of Lincoln NE, Melinda Ward of Lincoln, NE. and 20 great grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her father George B. Jones and mother Myrtle O. Jones.
A celebration of life and memorial for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Eversole Mortuary in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Lance Anderson officiating. A burial service will follow at the Russian River Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Valley View Skilled Nursing Center for all of their kindness, friendship and care provided to “June Bug” over the past three years.
