Obituary:
It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of long time county resident Kate (Katherine) Howe on September 30, 2012.

Kate received her B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Humboldt State University and her Masters in Psychology and Addictions from J.F.K. University in the late 1990's. Kate was an active and compassionate mental health advocate in Mendocino County and at the state level through the California Network for Mental Health Clients. Having worked for Ford Street Project, Manzanita Services, Inc. and as a county employee for county mental health, Kate's passion was in supporting the underserved and at-risk people of our community in their pursuit of wellness.
Kate leaves behind her partner, Kelly Adams, her beloved dog Patches and the community she nurtured. She is also survived by her sister & brother in-law, Carol and Terry Abreu, her nieces Kristina Eddy and Marissa Abreu Thomas, and nephews Jacob Eddy and Chris Abreu.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Kate on October 24th, from 12 – 2pm at Manzanita Services, located at the Ukiah Methodist Church, 270 N. Pine Street, Ukiah. Donations in Kate's name may be made to our local Cancer Resource Center or to Manzanita Services, Inc..(both are local 501(c)3 organizations that worked closely with Kate and will continue care in her name.)
