Obituary:
Lionel Gordon Jahnke, 78, of Ukiah passed away at home July 16th, 2013 with his family at his side. Gordon was born May 16th, 1935 in Herbert, Saskatchewan Canada.
One of twelve children, Gordon grew up on the farm near Herbert. He attended
the University of Saskatchewan and graduated with a Law Degree, Magna Cum Laude in 1959. From there he moved to London, England and earned a Master of Law from the University of London in 1961.
Gordon touched many lives. He taught as a Law Professor at the University of British Columbia from 1961 1984. He loved to fly, earning his Pilots License and Instrument Rating in 1973. Gordon had moved to Ukiah, California 23 years ago, where he enjoyed grape growing and living on the Schrader Ranch.
Gordon was proud of his children. He loved a challenge, and was always ready for a new adventure. Over the years he owned properties varying from and an Outback Ranch in Australia, Night Clubs in Bangkok to a property in the Cook Islands and his Vineyards in Mendocino. He was an avid skier and enjoyed riding motorcycles, cooking, baking, playing pool and tennis. His love of flying and travel took him on many adventures around the world.
Gordon is survived by his wife Ann Watthasri of Ukiah, daughters Suzanne Jahnke-McConnell and her husband Jason McConnell of Ukiah, Tessa Jahnke of Ukiah, son Michael Gordon Jahnke and his wife Karen of Vancouver, B.C., sisters Ruth Blakie, Irma Webb, Lorene Harrison, Lois Wallin and Genevieve Jackson, brothers Harvey Jahnke, Albert Jahnke, Curtis Jahnke and Virgil Jahnke, grandchildren Tyler Odin Hunt and Austin Peter Jahnke. Gordon was preceded in death by his brothers Art and Lawrence.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Eversole Mortuary.
