Joel F Corippo

Joel Francis Corippo, beloved son, brother, father and grandfather passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on April 21, 2024 at the age of 64.  

Joel was a lifelong resident of Ukiah.  He was raised in the Catholic Church and attended St Mary’s School and Ukiah High.  He was a gifted golfer throughout his life, beginning with the Ukiah High Golf Team.  He was a member of the Ukiah Men’s Golf Club and in most recent years served as a golf marshal at Ukiah Valley Golf Course.  The golf course was his second home.

Joel was known to be a skilled carpenter, building everything from homes to furniture to carving intricate boxes. Joel’s creations are beautiful, using a variety of woods.  Evidence of his building talents and finish work stand around the Ukiah Valley today including several homes in Redwood Valley built following the fires of 2017. 

We all knew Joel best for his fantastic sense of humor and the sparkle in his eye when he knew he got you to laugh. Whether that laugh was triggered by his singing a chorus of “Bald Headed Lena, Has anybody seen ‘er, Cute as she can be…” or quoting verbatim dialogue (all voices) from The Little Rascals or even when he caught you smiling as he cuddled with Ernie, his faithful terrier companion.  Our brother will be missed dearly.

Joel is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Joan Corippo.  Joel is survived by his siblings Carl Corippo (Mary) of Auburn, Peter Corippo (Scott Murray) of Palm Springs, Ann Bogovich (Brad) of Roseville, Paula Hajewski (Mark) of Grass Valley, and Jenny Smith (Garrett) of Burlingame.  Joel is also survived by his stepson Chris Porterfield Corippo (Ashley) of Lakeport and grandchildren Jordan, Hailey and Jace.  

A celebration of life honoring Joel is planned for July 20, 2024, at the Ukiah Valley Golf Course Clubhouse at 1:00 pm.   Please message JoelMemorial707@gmail.com if we will see you there.  The family asks that anyone so moved, donate to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
