Obituary:
Jeremy Johnson passed away at his home on Monday, December 7, 2009 in Ukiah, Ca. Jeremy was born July 14, 1974 in Kyoto, Japan. He came to Ukiah to live with his mother Norma Ference exactly three years ago, after fourteen years of institutional living, having suffered from mental illness at least since his teenage years. In those three years he thrived, and grew, enjoyed his freedom, and came to be a tower of strength for those around him, becoming himself a caregiver for his mom. He took courses at
Mendocino College, learned to live independently, and became an adult.
He will be remembered for his compassion, his honesty, and his unwillingness to bother others with his problems.
He leaves his mother, his father Dave Johnson and Dave's wife Diane Johnson, and sister Laurel Johnson. Also his uncle Darrell Ference and cousins Jeff and Susan. He also leaves some good friends, many acquaintances, and his cat Sarah.
There will be a memorial service/celebration of his life Wednesday, December 16, at 754 N. Oak St. from 12 to 2 pm. Bring memories and optionally a potluck dish.
