Obituary:
Stanley Johnson passed away on December 20 in his home in Yorkville, CA. His incredible life began on January 7, 1931. He was born to the late Glen and Helen Johnson and lived his entire life on the family ranch in Yorkville. Although he was born with cerebral palsy, this did not hinder his ability to run their sheep ranch, which has been in existence since 1918, until he retired in 2008.
Stanley was an active member and past president of Mendocino - Lake County Wool Growers Association, active member in both Redwood Empire Sheep Dog Association and the California Cattlemans Association. He was very proud of the fact that he was Livestock Man of the Year of the Redwood Empire Fair and Grand Marshall of the Mendocino County Fair parade in Boonville. Stanley enjoyed the S.F Giants, S.F 49ers, traveling, being around people, and offering his assistance & sheep to FFA and 4H kids. He said the kids always kept him feeling young. His greatest enjoyment was his beloved border collies and sheep. He competed in sheep dog trails for years and received many awards.
The family would like to thank all of the special people ( way to many to mention) who help him accomplish his many ambitions.
A very special thank you to Lupe De Alberto and her family who were Stanleys caregivers for the last 5 years. The love, care, compassion and dedication that were given to him by Lupe are beyond words.
He was preceded in death by sisters Alice Rey and Lamona Walraven and survived by Rae Ann and Gary Robertson, Glenda Presley and Trent Presley.
Family and friends are invited to attend services Wednesday 1:00 p.m. December 28, 2011 at Eversole Mortuary 141 Low Gap Rd. Ukiah, CA .
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Anderson Valley Volunteer Firefighter Association P.O. Box 414, Boonville, CA 95415
