Obituary:
Benjamin R. Johnston of Ukiah passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010. Benjamin was born in Fresno, Ca. on May 20, 1950.
Benjamin attended high school in Fort Bragg, Ca. Following school he served his country in the U.S. Army from October 13, 1969 to October 13, 1983. Benjamin received a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, 2 Overseas Service Bars, Driver Badge with Device, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Campaign Stars, Air Medal (31st Award), and a Good Conduct Medal (4th Award)
Benjamin was very proud of his military service and his sons.
He is survived by his sons Lee E. Johnston, Kenneth R. Johnston and Benjamin P. Johnston all of Ukiah, sisters Betlie M. Haney of Beloit, WI, and Tressie L. Bickford, of Bangor, Ca., brothers Roy E. Johnston of Ukiah, Robert F. Johnston of St. Robert, MO., and Jimmie D. Johnston of Fort Bragg, Ca., grandchildren Raven C. Johnston of Ukiah, Nathanaul E. Johnston of Ukiah, Austin D. Devine of Willits, Ca. and Brandon Lee Morse.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 8, 2010 from 1-5 PM at the Eversole Mortuary. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Ukiah Cemetery with Military Honors.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Eversole Mortuary.
