Born Joseph Robert Welch, on April 13, 1936, in Willows, California, to Joseph and Margaret Welch. He was the youngest of four siblings, Pauline, Margaret and James Welch. He was known as “Bobby” to those closest around him. Bob Lived in California his entire life, although he joined the US Marines after graduating from Potter Valley High School in 1955, in hopes he would travel the world. He was stationed and remained in Southern California in El Toro for his full tour of 4 years. It was there that he met and fell in love with Lillian O’Campo and they were married 5 years later in Santa Ana, California on July 1, 1960. They have 3 children Judy, Bob and Charli. Bob was a grandfather of five; Andrew, Ryan, and Jocelynn Corpuz, and Deven and Branden Kirtley. Though Bob spent a lot of his time working he found time to make Candy and become known for making caramel and peanut brittle. He often took large bags to caramel to Rinehart Oil where he worked for more than 35 years as a truck driver. As a child he had a love of sports and was on his high school basket ball and baseball teams; they were the Potter Valley Bearcats. He was a devoted father, a good friend, candy maker, and he enjoyed gardening. Bob passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024, in his home surrounded by family. Services will be held July 15, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, in Ukiah, California, with reception to follow at the Ukiah Golf Course Club House
