Obituary:
Our Beloved Mother, Grandma and Great Grammy, Donna Marie Karbe passed away peacefully at Brookdale Paulin Creek, April 1, 2015 several weeks after her 96th birthday. She was a true lady; gracious, loving, always positive, friendly and lived life to the fullest.
Born March 12, 1919 in Kelseyville, Ca to Ina and Frank Hastain. Donna graduated from Kelseyville High in 1937 (life member of CSF) and went on to work for the Lake Co. Welfare Office, Deputy Co. Clerk and part time social worker. In early years she worked beside her mother in the pear shed.
In 1943 she married Herman W. Karbe (deceased) manager of P.G.&E. Upon Hermans promotion in 1956 they moved to Ukiah were Donna lived until moving to Santa Rosa in July 2013. She chose Paulin Creek to live (no more cooking and cleaning). She enjoyed her new friends, wonderful staff, and partaking in many of the activities offered.
She is survived by her Loving Daughter, Carolyn Meigs of Santa Rosa; Loving Son, H.W. Bill (Vernice) Karbe of Woodland, Ca.; Adored grandchildren John (Leah) Meigs, Kirkland, WA; Jeffrey Meigs, Roseville, CA; James (Corinne) Meigs, Lincoln, Ca; Lindsay (Eric) Forgeron , Hawthorne, CA; Cynthia Sawyer, Antioch, CA. Her adoring great grandchildren Kyle and Logan Meigs, Kirkland , WA; Kyra Meigs, Lincoln, Ca; Kara Forgeron, Hawthorne, Ca. Niece Joan Ream of Oregon and Arizona. Predeceased by her sister Wilma Tatman, nephew Bill Phillips and dear friend Frank Crane.
Donna was a 70 plus year member of Eastern Star (past Matron); charter member of Rainbow girls, Lakeport. A stay at home Mom she was active in her husbands and childrens activities (a girl scout leader; Jobs Daughters; Demolay and schools). Donna was a seamstress; enjoyed working in the garden; traveling; pinochle; anything to do with history and in later years Bridge and the S.F. Giants. Her favorite times were being with her family.
