Obituary:
Ronald Paul Knight Sr. of Hopland passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Kentfield, Ca. with his family present. Ronald was born October 29, 1941 in Santa Rosa, Ca. and was a lifelong resident of Hopland.
Ronald attended college and worked in Tribal Administration and as a Grant Writer.
Ronald was a great man who loved his family and there was not anything that he would not have done to help anyone in need. He was a softball player in his younger years, coached softball, and loved being with his family- especially his grandchildren. He was well known in the Indian community for all of his accomplishments in the advancement and education within the Native American tribes that he worked with. He loved working crossword puzzles, watching his children and grandchildren play sports, and enjoyed going to church. He was awarded the Father of the Year award for the Ukiah Assembly of God Church and he will always be remembered as a kind and generous man that loved Jesus. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.
Ronald is survived by his daughters Veronica “April” Tovar of Lakeport, Ca; Angela Knight-Elliott of Hopland, Ca; Mellani Myatt of Oahu, Hi; Bernadette Ram of Ukiah, Ca; and Elaina Mejia of Ukiah, Ca: son Ronald Knight Jr. of Wapato, Wa; brothers Hale P. Knight Jr. of Ukiah, Ca; and Alfredo Knight of Hopland, Ca; also over 50 grand and great grandchildren survive.
Ronald was predeceased by his mother Florence Anderson; father Hale Knight Sr.; brother Filbert Anderson Jr.; sisters Gladys Knight and Aurelia Nador.
A viewing will start on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 6 PM at the Hopland tribal gymnasium, a funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 1 PM at the Hopland tribal Gymnasium.
