Memorial services for Carol Sue Koonce of Ukiah will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Eversole Mortuary. Carol passed away at her home on Saturday, December 10, 2011 with her family by her side.
Born July 21, 1963 in Illinois, Carol worked as a caregiver. She lived in the Ukiah area for the past 25 years. Carol enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was most proud of raising 3 strong children and completing her associate’s degree in college while being a full time mom. She will be remembered for her heart of gold and ability to give the shirt off her back when someone was in need. She was so strong willed, loving and caring. She took great pride in being a mother. Her favorite quote, “Just because you are a mom doesn’t mean you don’t have a job. Being a mom is a job that is 24 hours 7 days a week 365 days a year and just because kids turn 18 doesn’t mean the job is over.”
Carol is survived by her daughter, Marissa Christine Garcia (Jones) of Ukiah, sons Jacob Lee Jones and Joseph Daniel Henderson of Ukiah, father Luther Koonce, sisters Rose, Arelene, Yvonne, Nancy, Peggy, Linda and Charlene, brothers Don, Michael, Gary and Edward, grandchildren Nikki Jones, Diego Garcia Jr. and awaiting Savanna who will arrive in April. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lottie Koonce.
